This is an original acrylic painting on a 4x6 inch gessoed board. This is painted with a palette knife. The scene is of a beautiful sunset over the Thornapple River in Cascade, Michigan.
I'm a West Michigan artist. I studied art at Grand Rapids Community College and Aquinas College where I received my Bachelor of Fine Arts degree with a focus in sculpture and painting. In three dimensional art, I enjoy transforming pieces of steel and stainless steel into unified three dimensional sculptures. My desire is to create a work that not only conveys an idea or emotion, but also draws the viewer around the piece to enjoy various connections and movement of the form. I build my sculptures in my home studio in Michigan. I use an arc welder, various tools, grinders and buffing and grinding machines to build and finish a sculpture. Most of my current pieces are buffed to a natural steel finish and or a natural rust patina...
